We're so glad.....

That our daddy could come home- for the weekend!! It was sooo nice actually having him at our home. i haven't gotten over it. that is why it is taking me forever to get this post done. (i started it 3 days ago)
He flew in saturday morning, bright and early. we kind of just had a quiet day all day. just enjoyed being together. that night he and i got to go out on a date! THANKS again Brooke! we went to dinner and then the temple. it was really wierd for me to be with out my kids. As we were driving to the restaurant i turned to jason and said "it has been tooo long since i have been without the boys. i keep wanting to say things like 'oh, there's a train' or 'look at the big flag' or 'can you see the temple?' - but then i realize that you (jason) probably don't need me to point those things out to you!"
As you can tell from the picture above, he came home with a little something on his face. he thinks he is hilarious! they have grooming standards (just like BYU) so he thought he would be funny and grow a mustache. he actually had done it before, when we went down there to see him, then he shaved it and grew it out again. At the airport when we picked him up, he opened jared's door to give him kisses. Jared told him he had "snots" on his face while pointing to his mustache. of course, when i try to have him say it on video, he doesn't. but this is still a cute clip of the two of them:

Sunday, we went to church, naturally. i did have more than one friend say to me "did you know he had a mustache?" i think all the guys in our ward just wanted to hear him tell them about all the cool stuff he is learning. he didn't even get to come to sunday school with me because they had cornered him in the halls.
After church we went out to doughmans for fun and food. always a good time there. they couldn't get over his 'stache either. the weather was finally some what warm enought that we could walk the loop after dinner. (their street- which is long, and has a really big hill to climb) good thing i had jason to push the stroller. don't know what i'm going to do next time. they are heavy to push up that hill!
Monday we celebrated Jared's birthday, which isn't actually for another 2 weeks. but, since jason was home, we just had a small party. doughman's came out and surprised jared with the coolest birthday present: a huge sandbox! well, they built a fun sand box in our backyard. it isn't quite finished yet, so i'll wait to post pictures once it is all done. he is just going to love it! thanks guys!
I have never seen jared so excited. he just kept (and has since continued every day) saying "party, happy birthday jared!" he new we were celebrating him. he still wants to open more presents. he loved it when everyone sang to him. he keeps singing to himself. we bought him a fun new scooter. he still hasn't quite figured it out yet, but is getting really close. he also got his own helmet so that he doesn't have to play with daddy's any more.

And then, tuesday morning before jason left, we went up to the duck park to feed the ducks and play with our daddy a little bit more. jared just would not stop running to jason all weekend long just to give him a hug and kiss. it was so precious. it was as though sometimes he just did it to make sure that jason was still there. i kind of would do the same thing :)
We are so glad that he was able to come a be with us for a few days. i haven't decided if it makes things easier to see him, or just harder. it's like he is just teasing me. life is definitely easier when he is around. i have more patience and am not as worn out at the end of the day. and, well, i could go on and on with reasons. but i am glad he did come. it gives me motivation to keep on going 'till we see him again for the weekend in july. Enjoy all the pictures!
